Discover the Thrill of Flyover Las Vegas: Soaring Adventures Above the Strip

Have you ever wondered what it would be like for humans to fly? Who are we kidding, of course you have - EVERYONE has. Well, what if I told you that there exists a place where you can not only fly, but you can transport yourself to natural wonders beyond your wildest daydreams? Flyover Las Vegas is the answer you’ve been searching high and low for (get it?). 

At Flyover, you’ll take flight and find yourself immersed in some of Earth’s most unspeakably picturesque settings. From the arid and rugged terrain of the Wild West, to the evergreen Canadian Rockies, to the vast landscapes of Iceland - you’ll be mesmerized by the imagery right before your eyes.

What Is Flyover Las Vegas?

Flyover Las Vegas is the culmination of flight, travel, brilliant cinematography, and remarkable creativity. Inspired by the wildly popular adventure known as Soarin’ at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts, Flyover is an immersive indoor experience designed to mimic flight in the most realistic way possible.

Former Disney Imagineer Rick Rothschild was the ingenious spearhead behind Flyover, and utilized some of the most innovative and beloved elements of Disney’s Soarin’ in the Flyover Las Vegas adventure. To give you the best representation of the Flyover experience, let me illustrate just what you should expect (without giving away too many spoilers, of course).

A Breath of Fresh Air

You’re walking down the bustling Vegas strip and in dire need of a break from the overstimulation at every corner. You enter the facility and walk down the hallway to Flyover Vegas. It’s like you’ve arrived back to planet Earth. As you traverse down the hallway to Flyover, you experience a cleansing of the palette. The natural imagery heaves a breath of fresh air into the space that can only be described as tranquilizing. It’s an appropriate precursor for the experience to come. And once you’ve entered, the journey can now begin. 

Act I

With all the buzz surrounding this miraculous experience, it’s no surprise that many decide to embark on the Flyover journey. This makes “Act 1” absolutely imperative to your upcoming flight. This means arriving 15 minutes earlier than your ticket time will provide the ideal pre-boarding experience. During this time, you and your fellow passengers will be organized into groups in which you will board and take flight together. Consider this your Flyover flight crew, who you’ll experience some of the world’s greatest scenes side-by-side. Strike up a conversation with your fellow crew members - visitors come from all around the world for this once-in-a-lifetime journey, and you never know what you might learn! 

Before you assemble into your line, be sure to check out the Flyover themed bar - The Lost Cactus. Pair a refreshing cocktail with one or all of the expeditions at Flyover. Enjoy a bright “Desert Sunset” to keep you hydrated through the Wild West, or sip on the smooth “Canadian Sky” as you weave through the tops of the Canadian slopes. Be mindful of your takeoff though, as you will have to finish your cocktail before you head into your flight.

Act II

Following Act 1, you’ll immediately phase into “Act 2.” Now this is where the fun really begins! Before you take to the skies, you have to get the lay of the land. Act 2 is informative, yet exciting. During this time, you and your Flyover crew members will watch a series of videos setting expectations for your imminent trip. You’ll receive instructions on how you’ll enter the pods in which your journey will take place and how to make the most out of your Flyover experience. 

Upon entering your pod, a few things to note: there are 10 people per pod, 2 pods per floor, and 2 floors overall. This means you are essentially taking this journey with 39 other travelers. It’s important to be respectful of your fellow passengers’ experiences before, during, and after your flight.

Be sure to turn off your cell phones and any devices which could cause distraction. Flyover even provides storage under your seat to keep devices, bags, and water bottles - so you won’t have to worry about the safety of your valuables. And once you’re all strapped in, you’re ready to GO!

Act III

Now “Act 3” is set to commence. Your flight is about to take off and Houston, there’s no problem in sight. Act 3 is the flight itself, and boy did I save the best for last. Prepare yourself for sensory sensation - lasting about 25 minutes. You’ll be strapped in tight with your feet hanging below.

With the miraculous lifelike imagery surrounding you on the spherical screen, you might even catch yourself lifting your feet to avoid coming into contact with some of the realistic elements of the film! Transported into a completely new environment, you’ll be able to see the movement, feel the winds, smell the scents. It’s everything you could possibly hope for out of an attraction!

Now I know what some of you might be thinking. But Valerie, how can I enjoy this experience if I have motion sickness? For those who experience motion sickness, don’t be alarmed.

This is a smooth glide from start to finish, but if you do have any concerns, be sure to speak with one of the members of the Flyover team to put you at ease. Please also keep in mind that children must be 40” or taller to take this voyage.

Flyover Destinations

Wonders of the American West

 If you haven’t caught on by now, there’s three expeditions to choose from - each with its own splendiferous scenery. First up we have the Wonders of the American West. On this flight, you’ll witness some of the highlights of the famous American frontier including Lake Tahoe, Zion National Park, the Mojave Desert, and the Grand Canyon. You’re essentially a modern cowboy, exploring the rugged terrain but doing it in the luxury of the skies. As an American embarking on this journey, I felt such pride in flying over the monumental landmarks we hold within our nation. It’s definitely a journey you’ll want to take!

Legendary Iceland: Landscapes & Lore

The second expedition soars through the land of fire and ice. Iceland is full of natural wonders, and has become a more and more desired destination over the past decade. Legends and lores surround the Icelandic lands and with its unreal mystical beauty, it’s easy to see why. On your Icelandic voyage, you will fly ever so close to the surface - taking in every bit of nature’s breathtaking detail. Words simply cannot do it justice. Flyover will make you seriously consider why you would spend thousands of dollars booking your vacation to these incredible places when you can be fully immersed in the land and culture for $55 or less. It’s THAT real. As you soar above Iceland’s stunning frosted glaciers and fjords, you’ll see why. 

Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies

The third and final expedition Flyover currently offers is my personal favorite, Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies. On this journey, you’ll find yourself fully encapsulated by the mountain scenery and culture. This expedition pays homage to the indigenous peoples of the Canadian mountain range and was developed with native influence and expertise. The beautiful sentiments in this film serve as reminders that we are all connected, and share this planet we call home. We don’t own it, we are a part of it.

Also on your flight you’ll catch a glimpse of ACTUAL adventurers ascending the mountain - absolutely NO CGI here! Flyover has partnered with some legendary athletes to show just what physical activities adventurers are seeking in these mountains. Everything you see throughout this expedition, as unbelievable as it may seem, ACTUALLY occurred. The thoughtful storytelling and masterful cinematography speak to the spectacular quality of work put into these films.

Now, it’s nearly impossible to top what you’ve just witnessed at Flyover - and I fully recognize this. A single ride for those over the age of 12 is $43, but for just $13 more you can fly TWICE. You essentially get to experience more of what this world has to offer, for less. You can even go ahead and pay for your drink at The Lost Cactus bar before you embark on your journey. For those with kids under the age of 12, their single ride cost $40 and double ride cost just $42 (only $2 more). It’s a no-brainer, right? 

Keep in mind that films start every 30 minutes, which makes it super simple to attend more than one showing.
