DoubleTree Rome Monti Review
If you’ve ever visited Rome, you know that finding a hotel that scores big points on walkability that’s also within proximity of the Rome Termini station is key. Staying at the right accommodation can make or break your trip, no matter where you go. And if you find yourself planning a trip to Rome, the DoubleTree Rome Monti is going to be your best bet. Don’t believe me? Here’s my in-depth review of the property.
DoubleTree Rome Monti Review
The DoubleTree Rome Monti is a new hotel that was constructed in 2020 and just opened in April of 2021. Unlike DoubleTrees throughout the United States, the DoubleTree Rome Monti feels elevated and gives you a luxury experience. The best part? You can earn and use Hilton points while booking a stay here.
Booking
There’s is a total of 133 rooms at the DoubleTree Rome Monti hotel. And you’ll have your pick of 5 different room layouts:
The king deluxe room
King superior room
Family connecting superior room
Queen guest room
Twin superior room
While you can book your stay directly on DoubleTree’s website, you can also make your booking via Booking.com or Hotels.com. For reference, I stayed in the King superior room and it was incredibly spacious but you can read all about it later in this article.
Location
One of the biggest draws to the DoubleTree Rome Monti is its location. To give you an idea, it is located in Rome’s historic center where you’ll find the Piazza Novana, Campo de Fiori, Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi fountain, and the iconic Colosseum.
It’s also a 4-minute walk from the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, and a 16-minute walk from the Roman Forum.
As for getting around, the DoubleTree Rome Monti is centrally located as it is a 20-minute drive from Rome’s Ciampino airport and a 24-minute drive from the Leonardo Da Vinci International airport.
You’ll also have easier access to all of Rome itself as the hotel is only an 8-minute walk from the Rome Termini station.
Check-in
Whether you plan on heading to the hotel via car or train, checking in at the DoubleTree Rome Monti is pretty straightforward so you can rest up as soon as possible.
All you have to do is present a government-issued ID (like your passport) and a credit card where a temporary deposit would be placed for incidental charges.
Rooms & Suites
Once you’re all checked in, it’s time to head over to your room to unpack and unwind. My King superior room was decked out with a king-sized bed, a seating area, an espresso machine (if you know me, you know how important this is!), and a beautifully modern bathroom complete with a rain shower.
Other useful room amenities include a hairdryer (so you can leave yours at home), room slippers, toiletries, black-out curtains, and a bidet.
All the guestrooms at the DoubleTree Rome Monti come with most of the basic amenities I listed above. However, if you’re opting for a suite, you might be treated to different features.
For example, the King Junior Suite with terrace comes with a spacious outdoor terrace, and the King One Bedroom Suite with terrace has a smaller terrace space.
Amenities & Dining
Rome caters to all sorts of travelers alike. Whether you’re a history buff, luxury shopper, or adventurous foodie, the city has it all. But when it comes to the creature comforts we crave on the road, the DoubleTree Rome Monti has you covered.
If you’re a health-conscious traveler who doesn’t want to skip leg, arm, or ab day, the hotel has a 24-hour fitness center so you can squeeze in a workout at any time of the day.
For the business traveler, the DoubleTree Rome Monti has a 24-hour business center, 3 meeting rooms, and a conference center.
As for your dining options, the DoubleTree Rome Monti has a daily breakfast buffet, 24-hour room service, as well as an on-site restaurant, cafe, and rooftop bar.
Rooftop
Speaking of the rooftop bar, the views from up here is probably my favorite part of staying at the DoubleTree Rome Monti. It’s honestly the best spot to enjoy an Aperol Spritz anywhere throughout the city.
And if you’re feeling peckish, you can order some light bites. Although the food is average, the presentation is gorgeous. These bite-sized appetizers are served in a beautifully layered glass chest. And while you can find heartier meals elsewhere, the presentation adds to the overall atmosphere and experience.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, the DoubleTree Rome Monti feels more like a Curio Collection hotel than a DoubleTree. The rooms are well styled and everything is brand new. Its location makes it the perfect launching point for both new and seasoned travelers who are visiting Rome.
So if you’re looking for a reasonably priced hotel with a great location, look no further.
